Hit This is one of the vital blackjack terms that you should understand thoroughly. To "Hit" is to accept more cards from the dealer. This accumulates to your hand as you try to reach the sum of 21.
Stand Another one of the important blackjack terms is "Stand", which is to decline more cards. On the dealer's side, he or she is required to stand (not to open any more cards) as soon as the dealer's hand reaches 17 and above.
Bust A bust is a blackjack term that refers to a card that has the sum of more than 21. This hand is an instant loser. Meanwhile, the dealer stands as soon as his or her card reaches 17. If the card has gone way beyond, say 10 5 8, then the dealer's card is also a Bust.
Shoe Game This blackjack term refers to another method of dealing the cards. On a shoe game, the hands are dealt upwards, and no one is allowed to touch the cards.
Hand-Held Game True to its name, the hand-held game is the opposite of the shoe game, allowing the players to touch the cards. However, only one had is allowed to touch them and it is required that the cards stay put on the table.
Doubling Down Doubling down is one of the blackjack terms with respect to betting. When a player doubles down, he or she is doubling the initial bet and is allowed to hit one more card. The option of doubling down is allowed after two cards are dealt.
Split Split is also one of the blackjack terms that has something to do with betting. Whenever a player has two cards of the same rank (i.e. two 7's), that player is offered an option to split wherein the pair is divided into two hands.
Blackjack The term "blackjack" also applies to the result of the player's cards. When his or her card shows an Ace and a ten-point card (tens and face cards), then that player is said to have won a natural blackjack.
